Free Rentals From Kiwissa Ski Club
January 23, 2023 the Township of Manitouwadge shared the press release below which includes the announcement of rental equipment being offered free for this season for users at Kiwissa Ski Hill. OntarioNewsNorth.com has reached out to the Township for more details including:
- where rentals will be accessed: will these be available in the same trailer where people buy their pass?
- what is required: in the Club President’s quote she states they are offereing the equipment along with “a gift to the users that the equipment be made available at no cost for 2023” however the release does not elaborate regarding whether any deposit or other surety is required when signing out the equipment or the general terms of the rentals (are these daily, for the weekend, or for the season as was done in 2020?)
- what times rentals can be accessed: will they be available any time during regular hill operating hours or do users need to arrive to rent them at specific hours?
We will publish the Township’s responses as soon as they are received.

Manitouwadge, Ontario. Mayor Jim Moffat, on behalf of Council for the Corporation of the Township of Manitouwadge, and Lisa Schut, President of the Kiwissa Ski Club are pleased to advise that ski hill equipment rentals will be available for use during the 2023 ski season.
Lisa Schut is pleased to state, “On behalf of the Kiwissa Ski Club, we have offered the Township the use and operation of the ski rental equipment for the 2023 ski season. We are pleased to offer the equipment along with a gift to the users that the equipment be made
available at no cost for 2023.”Mayor Moffat commented, “Our Kiwissa Ski Hill has been an iconic landmark within the community since 1957. The Ski Club was established to support the success of the Ski Hill and thousands of volunteer hours have been committed to making our operation successful over the years. 2023 will be no exception and we look forward to welcoming new and returning users to Kiwissa Ski Hill.”
Effective January 14, 2023 the ski hill is open weekends from 12 noon to 5 pm. Kiwissa has 10 challenging runs ranging from 129m to 1000m with a 94m vertical drop.
