Wolverines Dominate NSSSAA Finals
WAWA, ON – Manitouwadge High School teams traveled to Wawa this morning (Nov.14.2022) to compete in the Northshore Secondary School Athletic Association (NSSSAA) finals, entering the competition with the three teams; Junior Boys Volleyball, Senior Boys Volleyball and Varsity Girls Basketball (competing for the Senior Girls Basketball banner) having had a very strong season (the Girls Varsity Basketball team was undefeated).
The three teams, led by their tirelessly dedicated coaches Wayne Pittman (sr. boys’ basketball), Kevin Osadchuk (jr. boys basketball), and Gord Martin and Ted Lalonde were victorious with NSSSAA Championship final game scores as follows for the winning teams:
- Manitouwadge Junior Boys Volleyball 22-25, 25-20 & 15-10
- Manitouwadge Senior Boys Volleyball 25-17, 25-15, 25-20
- Wawa (Ecole St.Josheph) Junior Girls’ Basketball 50-15
- Manitouwadge Varsity (Senior Banner) Girls’ Basketball 29-18
The Senior teams now have to keep celebrations short in order to prepare for Thursday’s NWOSSAA Championships. The Senior Girls’ NWOSSAA Basketball Championship is being held in Manitouwadge, the public is encouraged to come fill the stands at Manitouwadge High School and support our Wolverines who have worked so hard this season and will be facing off against Kenora’s Senior Girls. The Senior Boys Basketball Championship has the Wolverines ‘ travelling to Kenora to face off against their Senior Boys team.
