Provincial E-Stem Conference for Educators’ Prof.Dev.
SCIENCE NORTH AND STAO HOST AN ONTARIO WIDE E-STEM CONFERENCE FOR EDUCATORS’ PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
SUDBURY, ON – Science North and the Science Teachers’ Association of Ontario (STAO) are proud to present the eSTEM Conference, a two-day virtual professional learning event for K – Grade 12 educators.
The conference will bring together industry leaders and educators across Ontario to deliver 30 collaborative, practical sessions. The workshops (some delivered in English and others in French) will focus on science content and digital strategies that will help educators deliver experiential online learning.
The theme of the conference is Virtual Equity, Diversity, and Inclusivity (EDI) and Digital Strategies, which will aim to bring EDI to the digital/hybrid STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) classroom.
Educators will experience keynote addresses by Amber Sandy, Coordinator of SciXchange outreach and expert in Indigenous knowledge-based science, as well as Michael Fullan, one of Canada’s top educational consultants and director of New Pedagogies for Deep Learning.
With 15 sessions geared to elementary educators and 15 geared to secondary educators, the line-up of presenters will address topics such as tech tools for the classroom, science, technology & math simulations, diversity in STEM, coding, and climate change. The sessions will be delivered by partners such as The Perimeter Institute, ExploreLearning Gizmos, IThink, and Information and Communications Technology Council (ICTC).
Educators will leave with adaptive lesson plans and a new understanding of how to use eSTEM strategies to enrich students’ online learning experience.

STAO members are being offered a 10% discount to attend the conference. Preservice teachers currently enrolled in a Faculty of Education program will be able to access the full conference at the one-day rate. A link will be emailed to STAO members to receive their discount.
