TBDHU Placed in Grey Zone of Provincial Framework
THUNDER BAY, ON – Today, the Government of Ontario announced that the Thunder Bay District Health Unit (TBDHU) will be moving into the “Grey – Lockdown” zone of the provincial COVID-19 Response Framework: Keeping Ontario Safe and Open. Additional public health measures will further help control the spread of COVID-19 in the TBDHU area. This move comes into effect on Monday, March 1, 2021, at 12:01 a.m.
“With a continued increase in cases and hospitalization rates, we are currently in an exceptionally challenging situation.” says Dr. Janet DeMille, Medical Officer of Health. “I recognize this feels like a step backward and many of us are feeling the COVID-fatigue but these enhanced measures are needed to get COVID in our community under control.”
In addition to the general public health measures, there are some new and specific requirements that apply under the Grey – Lockdown zone. For a complete listing of the general and sector specific restrictions, please visit the Grey – Lockdown section of the framework online at the Province of Ontario’s website. All measures are also detailed in Ontario Regulation 82/20: Rules for Areas in Stage 1 under the Reopening Ontario (A Flexible Response to COVID-19) Act.
TBDHU will continue to support businesses and workplaces in implementing and adopting all of the measures required to protect their workers and the public. Updated resources and supports specific to sectors will be available on the health unit website at TBDHU.com/workplaces/sectors as of Monday March 1, 2021.
As we move into the grey zone, we remind everyone to follow all general public health recommendations. Of particular importance is staying home as much as possible and avoiding close contact with others outside of your immediate household.
