Provincewide Shutdown
As COVID-19 cases continue to rise at an alarming rate throughout the province, (online teacher-led learning until January 25, 2021 for Southern Ontario regions*), the provincewide shutdown in Northern Ontario has also been extended for another 14 days, aligning with the shutdown period in Southern Ontario. To support families during this extended school closure, child care centres, and home-based child care services will remain open.
Elementary and secondary students in Northern Ontario public health unit regions return to in-person learning January 11, 2021. This includes:
- The District of Algoma Health Unit
- North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit
- Northwestern Health Unit
- Porcupine Health Unit
- Sudbury and District Health Unit
- Thunder Bay District Health Unit
- Timiskaming Health Unit
As the provincewide shutdown continues to be in effect, the COVID-19 Response Framework has been paused. Public health unit regions for all of Ontario will remain in shutdown until January 23, 2021.
