This Week’s New Movies are No Joke!
Everybody knows about Batman. The caped superhero has been gracing movie screens since 1966 and comic books for quite a while prior. His background, origin and life story have been well developed over time. Everybody has probably also heard of Joker- one of Batman’s arch enemies. But how much do we know about Joker’s background or history? This week’s headline new release, aptly titled Joker, explores the origin of the super-villain. In a mesmerizing performance, Joaquin Phoenix brings a new layer to the character the likes that no one has seen before- which earned him a well deserved Golden Globe award. There are a total of six new titles this week, with a brief synopsis of each below;
Joker: starring Joaquin Phoenix and Robert De Niro- A mentally troubled comedian, disregarded by society, embarks on a downward spiral ultimately leading to the discovery of his alter-ego: the Joker. (Drama/Thriller) (DVD and Blu-Ray Also available to rent @ 2 Doors Down in Manitouwadge
Judy: starring Renee Zellweger- Legendary singer Judy Garland arrives in London in the winter of 1968 to perform a series of sold out concerts. (Drama) (DVD) Also available to rent @ 2 Doors Down in Manitouwadge
Bulletproof 2: starring Faizon Love- A special agent is forced to go undercover in an effort to take down a ruthless South African crime family. (Comedy/Crime) (DVD)
Million Little Pieces: starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Billy Bob Thornton- While in rehab, a young man struggling with drug addiction strikes up an unexpected relationship with a fellow patient leading to a journey of love and recovery. (Drama) (DVD)
Psycho’s Path: starring Quinton Rampage Jackson- A small town police department is tasked with the duty of tracking down a dangerous psychopath who is roaming the streets randomly killing innocent people. (Thriller) (DVD)
Mine 9: starring Terry Serpico- Two miles into the earth, nine Appalachian miners struggle to survive after a methane explosion leaves them stranded underground with only one hour of oxygen. (Drama) (DVD)
