New Kids’ Toys & This Week’s New Releases At Crossover Video
It was 1994 in the small town of Russell, Manitoba. A highly anticipated Disney animated feature was debuting at the drive-in theatre. My family and I were settled in our vehicle, speaker in the window, ready to watch “The Lion King”. Little did we know that it would quickly become a Disney classic. Fast forward to 2019, drive-in theatres are a thing of the past, but the seats in regular theatres around the world were packed for the live-action remake of Lion King. Featuring modern, state of the art graphics, the live action adaptation grossed a whopping 1.65 billion dollars at the worldwide box office- and is also our headline new release this week. There are a total of three new titles this week, with a brief synopsis of each below;
Lion King: featuring the voices of James Earl Jones, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Seth Rogen- After the tragic death of his father, a young lion is forced to flee his kingdom where, in an unfamiliar world, he must discover the meaning of bravery and responsibility. Dauntless: The Battle of Midway: starring Judd Nelson and C. Thomas Howell- In an effort to change the course of the war, a US ship is tasked with the duty of setting a trap for the enemy. But when the mission goes wrong, the crew is swept out to sea where they must rely on their fellow soldiers for rescue. (War/Action) (DVD)
Bloodline: starring Sean William Scott- An introverted father and husband, working as a high school guidance counselor, becomes a vigilante serial killer targeting those who abuse children. (Crime/Thriller) (DVD)
