This Week National Sport Inspires & Newfoundland Snacks Return @ Crossover
Nelson Mandela once said; “Sport has the power to change the world. It has the power to inspire, it has the power to unite people in a way that little else does. It speaks to youth in a language they understand. Sport can create hope, where once there was only despair.” When an enthusiastic young teacher arrived in the hamlet of Kugluktuk, Nunavut, he would soon find out just how true this quote really is. Like many communities in Nunavut, Kugluktuk was struggling with tragically high rates of youth suicide as well as a variety of addiction issues. But it wasn’t until one of his own students took his life, that Russ Sheppard realized that he needed to do something. With the reluctant support of the principal, Russ organized a school lacrosse team- an act that would change the community forever. This true story is front and center in this week’s headline new release “The Grizzlies”. There are a total of seven new titles this week, with a brief synopsis of each below;

In a small Nunavut hamlet struggling with youth suicide and addiction, a group of students’ lives are transformed when they are introduced to the sport of lacrosse.
