Stabbing Leads to Arrest
GREEENSTONE, ON – On the 3rd of December, 2018, at 01:52 am the Greenstone Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a stabbing on the First Nation Territory of Long Lake 58. Police attended a residence to find a male party with multiple stab wounds to his hands and torso. The victim was transported to hospital to be treated for his wounds.
Investigation revealed that the victim had been involved in an altercation with another subject at a local residence. A person of interest was located in the near vicinity on foot and subsequently arrested. The scene has been secured and is being processed by the OPP Forensic Identification Unit. The victim is being flown to Thunder Bay for further evaluation.
Police have charged [Edited by ONN] an individual, 18 years old of Long Lake 58 First Nation with the following offences:
- Aggravated Assault contrary to section 269 of the Criminal Code
- Assault-Cause Bodily Harm contrary to section 267(a) of the Criminal Code.
The accused is currently being held in custody for a bail hearing later this date. This investigation is under the direction of the Greenstone OPP Crime Unit.
