Federal Investment of $1.1 Million to Benefit Township of Terrace Bay
The Government of Canada invests in waterfront development to help promote the North Shore region of Lake Superior
TERRACE BAY, ON — The residents and businesses of Terrace Bay will benefit from an enhanced waterfront area thanks to a Government of Canada investment of $1.1 million. This FedNor funding will enable the Township of Terrace Bay to develop its waterfront into a regional tourist attraction that will serve as a gateway to the Lake Superior National Marine Conservation Area (LSNMCA) and Slate Islands Provincial Park.

The Honourable Patty Hajdu, Minister of Employment, Workforce Development and Labour, and Member of Parliament for Thunder Bay—Superior North, made the announcement today on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development, and Minister responsible for FedNor.

Specifically, the investment will support the servicing of the site, expansion and paving of a parking lot and boat launch, development and installation of interpretive and wayfinding signage, and construction of a pedestrian walkway, beach pathway, gazebo and year-round operating pavilion. This priority project will help the Township of Terrace Bay to position the community as a tourism destination of choice along the North Shore, while creating businesses and jobs.
