Rick Mercer Report Says Goodbye

This week the incredible, unforgettable Rick Mercer hosted his final episode of the Mercer Report.

A very proud Canadian, Rick used the Mercer Report’s 15 years on CBC to highlight many of the people, places and things we have to be proud of as Canadians, so much of which most of us would never have had the opportunity to see were it not for Rick’s adventures on the show and his love of exploring Canada.

Mercer also used the show to draw attention to more difficult issues and challenges faced by people in Canada, and even across the globe.  Bringing awareness to issues including bullying, veterans affairs, political accountability and many others.  Mercer wasn’t always satisfied with raising awareness however and over the years, he encouraged Canadians to step up and be more involved from urging people to vote, to the Mercer Report’s annual Spread the Net challenge which led to tens of thousands of Canadian elementary, secondary and post-secondary students, raising funds to purchase mosquito nets to help prevent the spread of malaria across the globe.

Though this week’s show was the final Mercer Report, there are a website and a YouTube channel where fans can continue to enjoy the Mercer Report, find any of the episodes they missed or re-watch their favourites.

Thanks to Rick Mercer for 15 phenomenal years and for taking us along on so many wonderful, uniquely Canadian adventures! I am definitely looking forward to seeing what Mercer may choose to do in the future as he has assured everyone that he is definitely not retiring though he hasn’t yet decided what comes next.

Rick’s final rant from the final episode of the Mercer Report a bit of advice based on his personal experience:
