Greenstone Woman Faces Multiple Drug Charges After Alleged Break & Enter
GREENSTONE, ON – On January 16, 2018, members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Greenstone Detachment, responded to a report of break and enter in progress on Kenogami Road in Longlac, Ontario. Following from this investigation a search warrant had been executed at the residence and [a woman] age 28 of Longlac, Ontario, was had charged with:
- Possession of a Schedule II Substance – Cannabis Marihuana – under 30 grams, contrary to section 4 (1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking, contrary to section 5 (2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
- Failure to Comply with Probation Order, contrary to section 733.1 (1) of the Criminal Code
- Unlawfully in a Dwelling House, contrary to section 349 (1) of the Criminal Code
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance, contrary to section 4 (1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking, contrary to section 5 (2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
She was held for a bail hearing and, on January 18, 2018 was released on an Undertaking Given to a Justice of the Peace. She had been scheduled to appear in court in Longlac, Ontario, of February 7, 2018 to answer to the charges.
On January 30, 2018, at approximately 1:05 am, uniform members of the OPP Greenstone Detachment conducted a traffic stop on a pickup truck due to the fact that the registered owner was a suspended driver.
[The woman] while not the registered owner, was found to be driving the vehicle and was subsequently also found to be a suspended driver in the Province of Ontario. She was arrested by police for Driving while Under Suspension section contrary to section 53(1) of the Highway Traffic Act.
Further investigation led to the discovery of a small amount of methamphetamine in the driver’s possession. As a result the womanis now also charged with:
- Driving while Under Suspension, contrary to section 53 (1) of the Highway Traffic Act
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance, contrary to section 4 (1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
- Failure to Comply with Undertaking, contrary to section 145 (3) of the Criminal Code
She was held for a bail hearing at the Greenstone OPP Detachment on the morning of January 30, 2018, and was again released on an Undertaking Given to a Justice of the Peace. She had been scheduled to appear in court in Longlac, Ontario, of February 7, 2018 to answer to these further charges.
