Thunder Bay-Superior North Constituency Youth Council Launching New Social Media Campaign
THUNDER BAY, ON – The Thunder Bay-Superior North Constituency Youth Council is excited to announce its #RedefiningSuccess social media campaign. The CYC’s 22 members have been hard at work collecting stories from people around the
region who are successful in all walks of life.
“We have recognized that students today feel a lot of pressure to follow a certain path to success. Our goal is to show everyone, especially youth, that success is not linear and can be achieved so long as you are doing what makes you happy,” said CYC member Jacqueline Forbes Dyck. “We have been talking to people in our region, learning about how they have broken the mold for what it means to be successful.”
As part of the government’s commitment to meaningful youth engagement, the Thunder Bay-Superior North Constituency Youth Council makes it easier for youth to have their say. The CYC, aged 15-22, meets several times through the year to discuss issues that matter to them, their community and their country. The #RedefiningSuccess project was self-directed and produced in an effort to highlight issues youth in the riding face today.
“These incredible young leaders are an inspiration. Seeing their hard work over these past few months and their dedication is a testament to the wealth of talent, knowledge and future we have here in Thunder Bay-Superior North,” said Hon. Patty Hajdu, Member of Parliament for Thunder Bay-Superior North and Minister of Employment, Workforce Development and Labour.
Starting June 1, the CYC’s Facebook and Instagram pages have featured incredible stories from high school dancers to First Nations chiefs asking them for advice. They are also asking the community to share their stories for even more ways to see how everyone in Thunder Bay-Superior North is #RedefiningSuccess.
