Nipigon Break and Enter Investigation Leads to Firearms Charges
SCHREIBER, ON – On February 2, 2017 at approximately 5:07 p.m. members of the Schreiber Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a report of a break and enter of a residence in the Town of Schreiber.
Upon their arrival officers observed numerous improperly stored and loaded firearms including one loaded prohibited firearm, also located was one prohibited device.
As a result of further investigation and the execution of two search warrants in relation to firearms offences police recovered one prohibited device and one handgun.
The following people have been arrested:
Neil Frederick PEARCE, 39 years old of Schreiber, Ontario is charged with the following offences;
- Six counts of Careless storage of a firearm contrary to section 86(1) of the Criminal Code.
- Two counts of Careless use of a firearm contrary to section 86(1) of the Criminal Code.
- Two counts of Possession of a prohibited device contrary to section 92(2) of the Criminal Code.
- Knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm contrary to section 92(2) of the Criminal Code.
- Possession of loaded prohibited firearm contrary to section 95(a) of the Criminal Code.
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm contrary to section 91(1) of the Criminal Code.
Jessica Ann PEARCE 36 years old of Schreiber, Ontario, charged with the following offences;
- Possession of a schedule 1 substance (cocaine) contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
- Six counts of Careless storage of a firearm contrary to section 86(1) of the Criminal Code.
- Two counts of Careless use of a firearm contrary to section 86(1) of the Criminal Code.
- Possession of a prohibited device contrary to section 92(2) of the Criminal Code.
- Knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm contrary to section 92(2) of the Criminal Code.
- Possession of loaded prohibited firearm contrary to section 95(a) of the Criminal Code.
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm contrary to section 91(1) of the Criminal Code.
Neil Frederick PEARCE and Jessica Ann PEARCE have been remanded into custody awaiting a bail hearing.
