#CrossoverInsider : Newly Released Movies & Videogames PLUS #Oscars Wrap-Up
The Marvel Universe is expanding yet again on the big screen. The company that has brought us the likes of Spider-Man, Captain America, Iron Man and Hulk is now introducing us to a lesser known character, Doctor Strange. As with every Marvel movie, viewers can expect impressive visual effects, and a fast-paced, exciting story. Doctor Strange is the headline new release in a week that also features the DVD release of this year’s Academy Award winner for best picture, Moonlight. There are a total of six new movies this week, with a brief synopsis of each below;
Doctor Strange: starring Benedict Cumberbatch, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Rachel McAdams – After a tragic car accident, a talented neurosurgeon must act as an intermediary between the real world and what lies beyond, utilising a vast array of metaphysical abilities and artifacts to protect the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Rules Don’t Apply: starring Warren Beatty, Lily Collins and Alden Ehrenreich – The unconventional love story of an aspiring actress, her determined driver, and their boss- the eccentric billionaire Howard Hughes. (Drama/Comedy/Romance) (DVD)
Shut In: starring Naomi Watts and Oliver Platt – Caught in a deadly winter storm, a child psychologist finds herself stuck inside where she fears that she is being haunted by one of her former patients. (Thriller) (DVD and Blu-Ray) Also available to rent @ 2 Doors Down in Manitouwadge
Moonlight: ACADEMY AWARD WINNER for Best Picture and Best Supporting Actor. Starring Mahershala Ali, Naomie Harris and Ashton Sanders : The story of the life of a young black man from childhood to adulthood as he struggles to find his place in the world while growing up in a rough neighborhood of Miami. Certain Women: starring Laura Dern, Michelle Williams and Kristen Stewart – Three strong-willed women strive to forge their own paths amidst the wide-open plains of the American Northwest. (Drama) (DVD)
Horizon Zero Dawn: Aloy is a young hunter on a quest to discover her destiny among the remnants of the ancient past. Shunned by her own tribe since birth, she has learned to harness her agility, cunning, and deadly aim to hunt the Machines, defend against rival tribes, and survive in the unforgiving wilds. Academy Awards Wrap-Up
The Academy Awards seemed to grab headlines for all of the wrong reasons this year after a major blunder which saw the cast and crew of La La Land take to the stage to accept the award for best picture- only to learn that presenters Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway had been handed the incorrect envelope. The actual winner was Moonlight- available to rent this week at Crossover. Below is a list of all of the nominated and winning films that are currently available to rent;
