Impaired Drivers Charged in Marathon
MARATHON, ON –The weekend of December 17 and 18, 2016 resulted in three drivers charged with impaired driving related offences by members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Marathon detachment, after traffic stops were conducted.
On December 17, 2016 at approximately 1:00 a.m. officers stopped a motor vehicle at Highway 17, Lecours Township and found that the driver had consumed alcohol. After investigation, the 20 year old male driver, Brent POSTHMUS of Edmonton, Alberta, was arrested and charged with Driving with More than 80 milligrams of Alcohol in Blood contrary to the Criminal Code. The driver was further charged with a Liquor License Act offence.
Later on the same date, December 17, 2016 at 9:05 p.m., a 22 year old female driver, Keana LABRECQUE, of Marathon, was arrested and charged with Driving with More than 80 milligrams of Alcohol in Blood contrary to the Criminal Code, following a traffic stop in the Town of Marathon.
On December 18, 2016 at 2:15 a.m. a vehicle was stopped by officers in the Town of Marathon for a Highway Traffic Act offence. The 28 year old male driver, Ted STEINMANN of Montreal, Quebec, was arrested and charged for Driving with More than 80 mgs of Alcohol in Blood contrary to the Criminal Code.
The three drivers are to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Marathon on February 16, 2017 to answer to the Criminal charges.
