A couple of weeks back I touched on the fact that December 2016, as is the case with most Decembers, would be a big month for new releases. The first batch of December releases hit our shelves this week led by one of the biggest action stars of the past decade in a triumphant return to the big screen. We were first introduced to Jason Bourne in 2002 when The Bourne Identity released in theatres. Based on a character from Robert Ludlum’s novels, Jason Bourne was a man suffering from extreme memory loss desperately trying to piece together his true identity. The movie was a big hit and 3 sequels would follow suit with the most recent seeing Matt Damon stepping aside from the iconic role. Fans of the franchise rejoiced when they learned that Damon would be back in the role of Bourne for the 2016 sequel aptly titled Jason Bourne. In a week with eight new releases, Jason Bourne leads the way. Below is a brief synopsis of each new title;

Jason Bourne: starring Matt Damon and Tommy Lee Jones – After being contacted by an accomplice from the past, Bourne comes out of hiding to uncover more shocking secrets about his past and to help unravel a CIA conspiracy. Secret Life of Pets: featuring the voices of Louis C.K., Kevin Hart and Ellie Kemper – The quiet routine life of a terrier named Max is thrown into chaos when his owner takes in Duke, a stray whom Max instantly dislikes. Late Bloomer: starring Johnny Simmons – After having a benign tumor removed near his pituitary gland, a 30 year old man experiences all of the changes and effects of puberty over a three-week period. (Comedy) (DVD)
Eliminators: starring Scott Adkins – A former US Federal Agent must abandon the witness protection program and come out of hiding after a daring home invasion at his house. (Action) (DVD) Viewer Discretion Advised Trailer includes language some may find offensive
Hollars: starring Margo Martindale and John Krasinski – A man returns to his small hometown after learning that his mother has become ill and is about to undergo surgery. (Drama/Comedy/Romance) (DVD)
Don’t Think Twice: starring Keegan-Michael Key – When a member of a popular New York City improv group gets a huge break, the rest of the crew start to realize that not everyone is going to make it after all. (Comedy/Drama) (DVD)
Perfect Weapon: starring Steven Seagal – In the year 2045, an assassin goes on the run from a secret government organization after he fails to eliminate their intended target. (Action/Sci-Fi) (DVD) Viewer Discretion is Advised
Siren: starring Chase Williamson – A bachelor party becomes a fight for survival when the groomsmen unwittingly unleash a fabled predator upon the festivities. (Horror) (DVD) VIEWER DISCRETION ADVISED
