Nipigon OPP Seize Contraband Tobacco
NIPIGON, ON – On November 2, 2016 at approximately 11:40 am, members of the Schreiber Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on Highway 17.
An investigation revealed he was transporting a quantity of unmarked cigarettes. A search of the vehicle revealed approximately 100,000 illegal cigarettes, with an approximate street value of $20,000.
As a result of the investigation, Thomas TRESOOR, 61 years old of Wanipigow, Manitoba has been charged with the following offences:
- Trafficking in Contraband Tobacco contrary to Section 121.1 of the Criminal Code.
- Possess unmarked cigarettes for sale contrary to Section 29(1) of the Tobacco Tax Act.
- Possess unmarked cigarettes contrary to Section 29(2) of the Tobacco Tax Act.
