STATEMENT FROM MPP MICHAEL GRAVELLE
RE: Terrace Bay ServiceOntario
MPP Michael Gravelle, Thunder Bay-Superior North
“As my constituents in Terrace Bay are well aware, a decision was recently made to close the ServiceOntario office in the community later this year.
Following the announcement, I immediately approached the Minister of Government and Consumer Services David Orazietti with my dissatisfaction with that decision. In fact, I called on him to reverse the decision and keep the office open.
Today, I am pleased to be able to let my constituents in Terrace Bay know that the decision to close the office is now on hold while the Minister conducts a further review. While this is not the full reversal I have been seeking on behalf of my constituents, it is very encouraging news.
This means the Terrace Bay ServiceOntario office will remain open while the review is underway and will not close on the previously announced date.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Minister Orazietti for listening to me and the many constituents who have been fighting to keep this vital ServiceOntario office open.
I also want to thank all my constituents who rallied to this cause as they reached out to me in large numbers to advocate on behalf of keeping the office open. I want to encourage them to continue to let our government know how important this ServiceOntario location is to the community and all the residents of Terrace Bay.
I will continue to advocate for the Terrace Bay ServiceOntario office to remain open permanently while the decision is being reviewed. I am confident that the residents of the community can look forward to this crucial government service remaining in the community.”
