Michael Christie keynote at Literary Awards Party
If you act fast, you might be able to hear Michael Christie give the keynote address at this year’s Literary Awards Party.
The Northwestern Ontario Writers Workshop (NOWW) is holding the LAP on Saturday, May 7 at the Prince Arthur Hotel and Suites.
“I anticipate that this will be a terrific event,” said NOWW President Jane Crossman, “Michael Christie has received rave reviews for his books, especially his most recent, ‘If I Fall, If I Die’, which is set in Thunder Bay.”
“Michael held a book-signing last year in Thunder Bay that was well attended, so the LAP will hopefully sell out as happened last year,” Crossman added.
Tickets are still available through the website (nowwwriters.ca) or by calling 345-0353.
Christie won the Northern Lit Award for ‘If I Fall, If I Die’. The book was also longlisted for the Scotiabank Giller Prize and was listed on the New York Times Editor’s Choice.
At the LAP, winners will be chosen in five categories – Short Fiction, Poetry, Novel Excerpt, Creative Non-fiction, AND the Bill MacDonald Prize for Prose (creative non-fiction).
“We’ve had numerous entries and I’m sure everyone who comes to the awards party will be impressed by the level of writing and the incredible storytelling,” Crossman said.
The symposium will be at 6 pm and dinner at 6:30 pm.
NOWW is a not-for-profit organization that provides inspiration and support to help its members reach their writing goals by offering workshops, readings, speakers and the annual literary awards contest. For more information about NOWW and the LAP, please visit nowwwriters.ca.
