May the force be with you! Star Wars fans rejoiced when they learned that the rights had been acquired to re-launch the historic and epic franchise. When “The Force Awakens” debuted in theatres, the fans turned out in droves ultimately setting new records. When the dust finally settled, the film tallied over 2 billion dollars at the worldwide box office which became a new record- easily dethroning the previous record holder, Avatar. It is no surprise that anticipation has been mounting for the release of the DVD and Blu-Ray and this week, the wait is over! “Star Wars The Force Awakens” headlines a week that features a total of nine new releases. Below is a brief synopsis of each;
Star Wars The Force Awakens: starring Harrison Ford, Daisy Ridley and Adam Driver – Three decades after the defeat of the Galactic Empire, a new threat arises as the First Order attempts to rule the galaxy. Now, along with the help of the Resistance, it’s up to a ragtag group of heroes to stop them before it’s too late. Countdown: starring Dolph Ziggler and Nick Nemeth – When a madman kidnaps a young boy and rigs him with explosives, a police detective defies the orders of his captain and takes matter into his own hands. Riot: starring Dolph Lundren and Chuck Liddell – A former police officer orchestrates a bank robbery in order to get thrown into prison with the notorious Russian mobster responsible for the death of his wife. (Action) (DVD)
Admiral: starring Rutger Hauer – When The Netherlands falls under attack by England, France and Germany, a national hero is summoned to lead the county’s strongest weapon, the Dutch fleet, in hopes of fending off the attackers. (Action/Adventure) (DVD)

Anguish: starring Ryan Simpkins – After a teenage girl is diagnosed with an identity disorder, things take an unexpected and terrifying turn as those around her begin to worry that an evil spirit may be residing in her. (Horror) (DVD)
Fire City End of Days: A demon, secretly living with others of his kind in the world of humans, is forced into a choice to save his brethren or an innocent human girl- a decision that could lead to war. (Fantasy/Thriller) (DVD)
Stealing Cars: starring William H Macy and Emory Cohen – A rebellious teenager, who has a penchant for stealing cars, gets sent to juvenile detention where he faces harsh injustices and vicious battles, but also finds friendships that remind him that life is worth living and that forgiveness is possible. (Drama) (DVD)
Creep: starring Mark Duplass – A man, desperate for work, responds to an online ad seeking a filming service. After driving to the remote cabin where the filming is to take place, the man discovers that his subject is not exactly who he says he is and intentions are far from pure. (Horror) (DVD)
Break Point: starring Jeremy Sisto and JK Simmons – After yet another partner leaves him, a semi-professional tennis player recruits his estranged brother in a last ditch attempt to save his floundering career. (Comedy) (DVD)
