KENORA, ON – The Kenora Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is continuing to ask for the public’s assistance in locating a 16 year old girl from Kenora. She was reported missing on February 28, 2016.

Delaine COPENACE was last observed in the downtown area in the evening on February 27, 2016. She is described as First Nation, 5’10, larger build, long black hair with brown eyes. She was last seen wearing black Etnie skater type shoes, black zippered sweater, a “bullet for my valentine” T-shirt and black jeans with zippered pockets.

The search is continuing with the assistance of the OPP Northwest Region Emergency Response Team (ERT), OPP K9 Unit, the OPP Provincial Liaison Team (PLT) Lake of the Woods Search and Rescue (LOWSAR) and a large number of community volunteers.  Anyone who has seen COPENACE or knows of her whereabouts is asked to contact the Kenora OPP at (807) 548-5534 or call 1-888-310-1122. 

The OPP would like remind the public that information of any kind, no matter how small, may assist in the investigation.  Citizens are asked to check personal property, yards, outbuildings and outdoor areas.  If anyone locates anything out of the ordinary, call the OPP at the provided numbers or CRIMESTOPPERS at 1-800-222 TIPS(8477).

The investigation is continuing under the direction of Major Case Manager, Detective Inspector Randy Heida of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB).
