MANITOUWADGE, ON – The Manitouwadge Curling Club’s youth curling program wrapped up March 29th with a pizza party and of course plenty of curling.
In it’s 4th year, the 6 week program offered elementary students, aged 9yrs and up, an hour on the ice each week for group and individualized instruction. Volunteers Shawna Patterson and Al Zawadski patiently shared their expertise with a group of 20 young curlers which they divided into 2 groups, beginners and returning curlers, to maximize opportunities for learning and fun.
Patterson, who has also coached high school curling, explained the youth program is an opportunity to encourage the next generation of curlers, keeping interest in the sport growing in the community.
