Crazy Fun Sliding at EPFM
On February 19th, 2016, I went on a sliding excursion with my school, École Publique Franco-Manitou, as one of our winter carnival activities. There was a lot of screaming and snow flying; everyone had lots of fun.
The day started like any other day until, around 11:15am, we prepared to go (getting our things together, putting our snow suits on, etc.). Just 15 min later, we all boarded the bus to Kiwissa Ski Hill. You never really notice how small a school bus is until 35 students plus a lot of teachers all squeeze in.
We had pizza, chips, juice and pop for lunch. Then we went outside and started sliding. There were a couple incidents but no big injuries, just a little bruise here and there from rough landings and small collisions. There were two areas we had permission to use; 3rd grade and up could go on both the ‘big hill’, 2nd grade and under were limited to the ‘small hill’.
It was a great day of sliding and fun I think everyone will remember for a long, long time. I can’t wait for this week’s activity, ‘Hiver des pionniers’!
Come back soon to read my next article about an activity at my school or in my community.
