NORTHWESTERN, ON – Highway 11/17 at the Nipigon River Bridge has been closed with duration of the closure unknown at this time.
A Marathon business owner travelling home from the west today crossed the bridge just prior to the closure telling OntarioNewsNorth.com that “the bridge heaved”.
The photo above shows what another traveller observed today; in the tweet of the photo some question whether significant temperature changes could have contributed though we currently have no confirmation of this nor any official details of what occurred to cause the closure (MTO notice below) or what officials might identify as the cause of the problem.
