-UPDATE- Death Investigation in Kitchenuhmaykoosib Inninuwug First Nation
Re-arrest and charges laid
KITCHENUHMAYKOOSIB INNINUWUG FIRST NATION, ON – June 3, 2015 at approximately 8:15pm (CST) officers responded to a residence on Mikisee Road in the community of Kitchenuhmaykoosib Inninuwug (Big Trout Lake) First Nation after receiving a report of a male that had been seriously injured and was in need of medical assistance. The male was transported to the nursing station where he was pronounced dead.
The victim was identified as 35-year-old Darren CROMARTY from Kitchenuhmaykoosib Inninuwug First Nation.
Marina CROWE from Kitchenuhmaykoosib Inninuwug First Nation was arrested and subsequently charged with Aggravated Assault contrary to section 268 of the Criminal Code.
Friday, November 13, 2015, 28-year-old Marina CROWE from Kitchenuhmaykoosib Inninuwug First Nation was arrested and charged with Second Degree Murder contrary to section 235(1) of the Criminal Code.
The accused will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Dryden on December 14, 2015.
This has been an ongoing investigation involving members of the Sioux Lookout Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) with the assistance of the North West Region Forensic Identification Unit and North West Region Crime Unit under the direction of Detective Inspector Dave ROBINSON of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB).
