Hawk Junction Driver Charged With Several Offences
WAWA, ON – Sunday November 15, 2015, at approximately 3:15 a.m. officers from the Superior East Wawa Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint located on Highway 101 just East of Wawa.
Officers observed the motor vehicle in question stopped along the highway approximately 2 km East of Wawa.
Investigation revealed that the male driver had been consuming alcohol.
As a result Brian C. THORNE (51) of Hawk Junction Ontario was charged with the following offences;
- Care or Control While Impaired by Alcohol contrary to section 253(1)(a) of the C.C.C
- Fail or Refuse to provide sample contrary to section 254(3) of the C.C.C
- Possession of a Schedule II Substance – Cannabis Marihuana under 30 grams contrary to section 4(1) of the CDSA.
A 90-day driver’s licence suspension was issued and his vehicle was impounded for 7 days.
The accused was released from custody and will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Wawa on December 7, 2015.
