There’s just something about natural disasters that seems to pique movie watchers’ interests. Twister, Perfect Storm, Dante’s Peak and Armageddon are all well known (and still well watched) movies based on a variety of different natural disasters. The latest entry into this genre, which also happens to be this week’s headline new release, is San Andreas starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. The Earthquake themed movie, based on an actual geographical fault of the same name, proved that natural disasters are still a major drawing card at the box office as San Andreas grossed a very respectable 155 million dollars at North American theatres. There are a total of new releases this week. Let’s have a look at each title in more detail;

The Gallows: starring Reese Mishler – A group of high-schoolers break into their school at night in order to destroy the set of an upcoming play. Little do they know, the spirit of teen who died in the same play 20 years earlier still lurks through the halls at night. How to Make Love Like an Englishman: starring Pierce Brosnan, Jessica Alba and Salma Hayek – A college professor begins to rethink his life choices when his much younger girlfriend announces that she is pregnant. (Comedy/Romance) (DVD) Also available to rent at 2 Doors Down in Manitouwadge!
