MANITOUWADGE, ON – Sep 6, 2015, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Manitouwadge detachment received a complaint regarding the unauthorized removal of election ads in the Manitouwadge area.
On Aug 24th, 18 Green Party signs had been placed at locations throughout the community. By Sept 3rd, 12 of these signs had been removed. On Sep 2nd, 12 Conservative lawn signs had been placed throughout the community, 12 of these have been removed. Also on Sept 3rd, 3 large 4ft x 6ft Conservative signs were placed in the community; by Sept 5th all the large signs had been removed.
The OPP would like to inform the public that tampering, vandalism or removal of election signs could possibly result in a criminal conviction if found guilty.
Police are currently investigating this incident and ask anyone with information in relation to this incident to call your local OPP at 1-888-310-1122. If you wish to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), where you may be eligible for cash rewards of up to $2,000.
