Shelter House shelves clearly in need of donations. Submitted photo
THUNDER BAY, ON – As a result of high demand with summertime use of the soup kitchen continuing to spike combined with low donation levels during the usual summer decline, Shelter House Thunder Bay is asking the community for urgent food donations to keep our soup kitchen service stable.
“Hunger and poverty aren’t seasonal and during the summer months we find ourselves with far less food to make healthy and nutritious meals,” said Patty Hajdu, Executive Director of Shelter House.
Among the needed items are: pasta sauce, diced tomatoes, cream of mushroom soup, oil, sugar, beans, ketchup, mustard, salad dressing, peanut butter and jams.
Food items can be dropped off at Shelter House at 420 George Street. For any questions please call 807-623-8182.
