Traffic Stop In Greenstone Leads To Multiple Charges
GREENSTONE, ON – On June 27, 2015 at approximately 10:38pm, a member of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Greenstone Detachment conducted a traffic stop for speeding on Highway 11 in the area of Hardrock Road, Municipality of Greenstone, District of Thunder Bay.
The subsequent police investigation revealed the plates were unauthorized for the motor vehicle and the two occupants had outstanding warrants out of Alberta. As a result, 33-year-old Timothy James HANSON of no fixed address was charged with the following offences contrary to the Criminal Code:
- Personation
- Obstruct Police
- Fail to Comply with a Justice of the Peace Recognizance
- Possession of Break and Enter Tools
- Theft Under $5000
HANSON was also charged with a number of Highway Traffic Act (HTA) offences and:
- Possession of a Controlled Substance contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substance Act (CDSA)
- Fail to Have Insurance Card contrary to the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act (CAIA)
The 35-year-old female passenger in the motor vehicle identified as Angie Rose HARPER of no fixed address was charged with the following offences contrary to the Criminal Code:
- Personation
- Obstruct Police
- Fail to Comply with an Officer in Charge Undertaking
- Possession of Break and Enter Tools
- Theft Under $5000
HARPER was also charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substance Act (CDSA).
The two accused were held for a bail hearing in Greenstone on June 28, 2015.
