Fined $1,525 for Falsifying Trapping Reports

OntarioMNRFA Foleyet man has been fined a total of $1,525 for falsifying trapping reports.

Wilfred Trochimchuk pleaded guilty to four counts of failing to include appropriate information on a season-end harvest report and one count of making a false statement in a document and was fined $1,525.

Court heard that in June 2013, Trochimchuk falsified harvest reports to show that he hadn’t harvested any animals. The documents indicated that Trochimchuk’s helper trapper had harvested all the animals from the three traplines they shared. Trochimchuk made a false statement by declaring that the information he provided was accurate and complete.

Justice of the Peace Sylvie-Emanuelle Bourbonnais heard the case in the Ontario Court of Justice, Timmins, on April 23, 2015.

Licensed trappers are reminded that they are required to complete a mandatory harvest report indicating trapping efforts for each season. The report is to be submitted by June 10 of each year.
