Enhancing Post-Secondary Education in Northwestern Ontario
Enhancing Post-Secondary Education in Northwestern Ontario
Ontario Bringing Learning Opportunities Closer to Home
With an investment of $1 million from the province’s Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation(NOHFC), Lakehead University is establishing immersive technology telepresence systems in Kenora and Sioux Lookout. The life-size screens will allow students to feel as though they are present in the classroom by supporting communication, providing access to interactive functions such as touch-screens, and reducing travel costs.
Investing in post-secondary education in the North is part of the government’s plan to build Ontario up. The four-part plan includes investing in people’s talents and skills, making the largest investment in public infrastructure in Ontario’s history, creating a dynamic, innovative environment where business thrives, and building a secure retirement savings plan.
