13th Annual Radio-Chaud Incl. Marathon, Dubreuilville and Longlac Competitors (among others)
SUDBURY, ON – The Conseil Scolaire Public du Grand Nord de l’Ontario (CSPGNO)’s 13th Radio-Chaud Music Contest is heating up and the grande finale concert on May 28th is rapidly approaching. Radio-Chaud aims to foster talent and stimulate creativity among secondary students by encouraging them to compose and perform original songs in the context of a board-wide contest.
The event includes participants from seven CSPGNO secondary schools: École Secondaire (ES) Château-Jeunesse in Longlac, ES Cité-Supérieure in Marathon, ES Hanmer, ES Macdonald-Cartier in Sudbury, ES l’Orée des Bois in Dubreuilville, ES de la Rivière-des-Français in Noëlville and ES Villa Française des Jeunes in Elliot Lake.
“Radio-Chaud is one of the high points of our school year, a solidly established tradition in our school board and an unique educational experience that develops skills and talents in many ways,”, says Director of Education Marc Gauthier. “Our students live an unforgettable experience as they rise to the role of musical artists for Northern Ontario’s Francophone community.”
The contestants have benefited from the support of three professional artists associated with Radio-Chaud. Pandora Topp, CSPGNO’s artist in residence, facilitated song writing workshops, Chuck Labelle assisted with the production of the songs and recordings, and Natalie Lalonde assisted with the stage direction of their live performance.
Radio-Chaud’s high point is the Grande Finale evening hosted by Éric Robitaille of ICI Radio-Canada Première. This performance will be held May 28th at 7pm at Laurentian University’s Fraser Auditorium.
Three prizes are up for grabs. The Live Performance prize will be awarded to the group with the most impressive stage presence, while the Promo prize will be awarded to the group that produced the best video clip and poster promoting their song. A jury will select these winners at the Grand Finale event.
The People’s Choice award goes to the song that obtains the most votes from the general public. Everyone is invited to discover the seven songs in competition atwww.cspgno.ca or http://radiochaud.cspgno.ca and to register their votes between May 19th and May 22nd.
These songs will also be heard on Le Loup FM, where the host of the morning show, Sylvain Boucher, will present interviews with representatives of the bands. ICI Radio-Canada Première will also present an overview of the Radio-Chaud contest.
