Let’s look on the bright side and change the spring tune. Slow melts are good for maple syrup, and low water levels and delays in golf times and maybe even the more time spent indoors at the Drop In…..well maybe, maybe not.
Anyway, despite the glaring error in my last column about the days, the Stand Up Fall Prevention Programme is being well attended with at least a dozen of us getting our info and exercise on Tuesday and our exercise on Friday. We play with balls, tennis and other; we pull our muscles allover with some help from stretchy colourful bands; we even do push ups, standing ones. I’m sure you could join us even now if you wanted to.
SURVEY
If you have not received our survey yet, either in person or in the mail, please feel free to contact us to get one. By May 8 we really would like to hear from as many Seniors in Wawa as possible about activities each of you would like to see happen through the Drop In. If you received a form, can you please get it back to us by then?
GENERAL MEETING
The next general meeting and the celebration of the May birthdays of members happens on Wednesday, May 13. We do have an executive and we do have a few members who attend regularly each month. Your membership also entitles you to help run the show by coming out to our business meeting and we really could use your help.
POT PIE PERSONNEL NEEDED
And help to produce all those meat pot pies will be needed. Orders have been coming in and the time for that runs out April 30, 2015; that’s this Thursday!!! Then the cooking begins and the chefs come on in to the Drop In about 9:00a.m. We also get the veggie preparers, choppers and stirrers out to prepare filling. We also make the pastry, pounds and pounds of it. That would be Tuesday, May 5. Wednesday, May 6 means a hive of activity, involving the holy rollers, pie fillers, crimpers, baggers, and runners.
At this time we really need a few more helping hands since at least four of those we have depended on in the last few years of pie production are not going to be able to come out because of illness. Our chief filler and boss, Lello, will certainly be missed. Any of us can take over the boss job, and do, but we need that extra pair of hands to do the spooning, please.
