UPDATE- Motor Vehicle Collision East of Thunder Bay – Driver’s Identity Released Released
THUNDER BAY, ON – Monday, April 27, 2015, Thunder Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a serious motor vehicle collision which occurred on Highway 11/17 in the Municipality of Shuniah near the McTavish dump, approximately one kilometre east of Silver Lake Road.
A single commercial tractor trailer unit travelling eastbound left the roadway and came to a stop in the south ditch. Hydro lines were damaged as a result of the collision, and Bell and Thunder Bay Hydro were both at the scene.
Dale Thomas GIMBLETT, 56 years of age, from Beaumont AB was pronounced deceased at the scene.
A post mortem examination will take place in Thunder Bay.
The investigation into the collision and the male’s death is continuing.
