Special weather statement in effect for:
- Cloud Bay – Dorion
- Kakabeka Falls – Whitefish Lake – Arrow Lake
Significant snowfall amounts possible this weekend.
Snow associated with a weather disturbance is expected to move into Northwestern Ontario tonight. About 5 cm is expected from this area of snow. The snow is expected to temporarily taper off early Saturday morning.
A second and more significant area of snow will move into the regions by Saturday afternoon and persist into the evening. Some portions of Northwestern Ontario may see total snowfall accumulations of 15 to 20 cm by Sunday morning. There is still considerable uncertainty regarding the locations of the heaviest snowfall.
There is also a possibility that areas near the Minnesota border may experience ice pellets mixing in with the snow on Saturday.
Motorists should be prepared for poor winter driving conditions in the snow and allow extra time to reach their destination.
