Wawa Goose Seniors Club News & Upcoming Events
Happy New Year!! (Especially if you did not get to the dinner on January 1, 2015.)
January is now over and we have been just a little quieter than usual. Illness and out of town visiting have meant that many of those who usually come out for regular bridge, cribbage or euchre events have not been able to attend. Last Thursday the seven of us played six hand euchre and laughed because we spent some of our time trying to figure out who our partners were! We hope the illness bugs get out of town and take some of the extreme temperatures with them.
If you are planning your excursions for February here are some of the dates you can pencil in on your calendar: cribbage on Thursday, Feb. 5 and 19; euchre on Thursday, Feb 12 and 26; bridge every Monday; the general membership meeting on Wednesday Feb. 11; and the Chili and Taco Luncheon on Friday, Feb. 13.
As part of the Wawa Winter Carnival we usually do the Friday Luncheon. This year Irene Piche has volunteered to prepare the fried bread for the Indian Tacos which are great. We will also be serving chili with homemade breads. For $12 you will get your beverage and cake and ice cream with your choice of entrée.
You can double your pleasure by coming out about 9:00am to give the cooks a hand or you can show up to help with serving which will start about 11:30am and continue until 2:30pm. If you can donate to the bread or the cake table, please contact Carol at (705) 856-7394 in the afternoon, Monday to Friday or at home at (705) 856-4514 in the morning or evening. Of course, just coming out for lunch and bringing your friends along would be great.
At the same time you could bring along you membership fees for 2015 if you have not already paid them. The fee is still $15 for the whole year.
And I am sure there will be other fine activities happening during that Friday and the rest of Carnival weekend. We hope you can get out and have fun and that we see you all laughing!
