History of Fish and Game / Snow Clubs
2014 has certainly been an exciting year for me as the President of the Kenogamisis Fish and Game as well as the Geraldton Snow Club.
We had overwhelming support for both the Geraldton and Longlac snow clubs. This tells me that we are appreciated for all the hard work our volunteers do for our clubs, despite some of the challenges we are faced with at times. The Geraldton Walleye Classic was another success this year and we are already working at making 2015 and other great event. I was also pleased with all the work we did to put together our history book “The history of the Kenogamisis Fish and Game according to the Times Star” celebrating 75 years for this organization is certainly something to be celebrated [CLICK HERE for Edgar Lavoie’s related article from August 2014]. I’ve received great comments on this book, with people asking if they could purchase a copy. Unfortunately the book was not made to be mass produced, but by popular demand, we were able to digitize the book and we now have it available online for everyone to view. There are hours of reading about our history, although the club started in 1939, the new articles start in 1946. It’s interesting to read articles of the fish and game / snow club, but it’s just as exciting to read the other news of the time.
Please visit our web site www.SnowClub.ca under the History tab you will find the book in PDF. Because it’s so big it was broken down is several parts. If you still prefer to read the actual book, there is a copy of the Geraldton library. We truly do appreciate the support we get from everyone near and far. I would like to wish you all a safe and healthy New Year. I’d also like to thank the people who have started to donate money to the Longlac club, to recover the cost of stolen fuel, very much appreciated.
