Wawa Goose Seniors Club : 400+ Turkey Pies, Upcoming Bazaar & Christmas Dinner
November, no matter the weather, is a busy time of year for many clubs and groups. Fundraising comes with much volunteering of time and goods of all sorts. Bake sales, teas and brunches, bazaars and other get-togethers have many people doing many extra things with their time and energy. And the Christmas celebrations do begin.
The Wawa Goose Seniors’ Club is no exception either to the fundraising or the extra demands on time and energy, goods and goodies. Starting early October with orders came the turkey pies. By early November we had begun to gear up for the Christmas Bazaar.
The turkeys in Wawa and else where are safe for another year! Thank you all for the pie orders!! We aimed to fill them by October 29 but then we got the orders and got more turkeys and added another week of production and made up 147 large and 321 small pies. Unfortunately for a few people on the waiting list that was about four large and ten small ones short. Our coffers are happy with the success and effort of so many.
On Friday November 28, 2014 there will be the Bazaar, in the true sense of the word: a place of selling. Starting mid-week there will be the penny sale underway and the tickets for the Basket Draw. They will still be there on Friday to join the White Elephants, the crafts and the baking. Donations to all of these tables are appreciated. So are the visits and purchases made to get your chances or your goodies.
There are, of course, the regular weekly or monthly happenings: bridge on Monday, cribbage/euchre on Thursday, a game of chance on Wednesday, conversations and fun card games other times. Most of this happens on a pick up basis—if you come, you can get involved. Bridge is more structured and we need to organize for tables of four. We are looking for a few more players for a fun afternoon starting at 1:00 pm. If you would like to join us, please call 705 856 7394 any week day afternoon and speak to Carol.
Again this year the Legion has organized a Christmas Dinner for Seniors. We do appreciate all their effort and look forward to the evening of November 30. If you have yet to get on the list you might try a call to the Legion to Roberta.
We look forward to seeing you at the Drop In and/or at the Bazaar!
