Wawa Among Those Communities Having Chosen A New Mayor
WAWA, ON – Wawa residents were able to check in and watch as the votes rolled in yesterday as polls were updated as counted on the Municipality’s website. It seems the alleged scandals and politically focused facebook groups of the past 4 years may have taken their toll on the confidence residents had in their outgoing Mayor as newly chosen Mayor Ron Rody, who previously served as a councillor, won with approximately 6 times the votes as were received by Linda Nowicki while the third candidate running for Mayor of Wawa, Ken Martin, receiving only 37 of the 1,498 votes cast.
Unofficial results show 3/5ths of the previous council returning. In addition to Rody returning in his new seat as mayor, the following 4 councillors will sit at Wawa’s council table for the next four years: incumbent Bill Chiason (1131 votes); Tamara Liddle (957 votes); James Neufeld (904 votes); and incumbent Yvan Besner (796 votes). Congratulations to those chosen to guide Wawa through the next 4 years.
