WAWA, ON – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Superior East Wawa Detachment want to remind the public that removing, damaging or vandalizing any election signs is a criminal offence.
- Anyone found committing such act can be charged with Mischief which is a Criminal Offence under section 430 Criminal Code of Canada.
- The penalty for Mischief is: Guilty of an indictable offence and liable to imprisonment for a term not exceeding two years, or guilty of an offence punishable on summary conviction.
Anyone with any information is asked to call the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers.
