Ontario’s Unemployment Stuck Above National Average: NDP
NIAGARA FALLS, ON – NDP Economic Development critic Wayne Gates says that today’s Statistics Canada jobs numbers show the jobs crisis in Ontario continues to deepen as the province’s unemployment rate remains above the national average.
“Families across the province are struggling to find good jobs and pay their bills, and things are only getting worse,” said Gates. “Families are going to continue to face tough times as the province continues to take the brunt of job losses in the country.”
Gates noted that in communities like Ottawa, Kingston, Toronto, Kitchener-Waterloo region and Windsor, the unemployment rates have risen.
“The Liberal plan for no-strings attached corporate giveaways has left Ontario’s unemployment above the national average and families struggling to make ends meet,” said Gates.
