Aboriginal Peoples Committee of the Senate set to visit Pic River First Nation

PIC RIVER FIRST NATION, ON – Wednesday September 17th, 2014 the Aboriginal Peoples Committee of the Senate will be arriving in Pic River First Nation to meet with the Chief and Council along with their Capital/Housing program. Among the Committee members confirmed to attend this meeting are: Dennis Glen Patterson, Chair; Lillian Eva Dyck, Deputy Chair; Sandra M. Lovelace Nicholas; Scott Tannas; Nancy Greene Raine; Wilfred P. Moore; and Nick G. Sibbeston.
The Senate will be touring Pic River First Nation as they move forward with their mandate to look at some of the challenges of which will be presented to the present government in the areas of housing and infrastructure needs of First Nations across Canada. Some of the key areas that will be review are in the following areas: Housing, Community Infrastructure, and Innovation Opportunities for financing and more effective collaborative strategies.
