Northwest Region Forest Fire Situation
There were no new forest fires confirmed by the afternoon of September 5. The degree of concern for fire behaviour is low for the region. On Friday September 5, wrap around cloud with a chance of showers will continue to linger over most of the region, except areas near the Manitoba border where mainly sunny skies will develop. For Saturday September 6, clouds with a chance of showers will sweep through the region. To date this season, 126 fires have been confirmed, burning a total of 1370 hectares.
Out of Province Deployment
The Aviation, Forest Fire and Emergency Services program of the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry continues to provide support to British Columbia in a firefighting effort that has been ongoing since mid-summer.
There are now 103 personnel from the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry on assignment in British Columbia to assist in ongoing forest fire management efforts.
In addition, Ontario has provided 430 power pumps, two values protection units, 41 portable relay tanks and 10,000 lengths of hose to British Columbia.

Report forest fires in the Northwest Region and the Northeast Region (for areas north of the French and Mattawa Rivers) by dialing 310-FIRE (3473). Southern region forest fires can be reported by calling the local fire department.
