BARRIE, ON – At approximately 11:48am on Thursday morning, an 18 year old Manitouwadge male was operating a cherry picker type machine at a County Rd. 27 business.
Apparently the male was using this machine to load wooden utility poles onto a truck when something malfunctioned and he ended up underneath two 1500lb poles. The victim’s screams were heard by nearby residents who then attended the scene and were able to lift one pole off the victim, while the other pole was eventually removed by using a forklift. The victim was taken to RVH [Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre] with non life threatening injuries by ambulance.
The Ministry of Labour is attending and will be investigating the incident.
