Dr. William J. Lucas, Interim Deputy Chief Coroner for Inquests, today announced that a hearing date has been scheduled to adjourn the inquest into the death of Kulmiye Aganeh and discharge the jury.
Mr. Aganeh, aged 22, died on March 14, 2009 while at the Provincial Forensic Program located at the Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care.
There was a two-year delay due to a prior judicial decision and scheduling conflicts resulting in the loss of two jurors.
The hearing will move forward at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at the Coroner’s Courts, Forensic Services and Coroner’s Complex, 25 Morton Shulman Avenue, Toronto. Dr. David Evans will preside as inquest coroner and Michael Blain will be counsel to the coroner.
