Robot Hitchhiker May Need Your Help Across Region
Well, as you’ll hear in the video below, there is a Canadian robot (more specifically a Southern-Ontario robot – he’s from Port Credit near Toronto) on an interesting adventure this summer.
Hitchbot, as he is so appropriately named, had a bit of difficulty as he (or is it she?) was travelling West not long after his journey began as, nearing Quebec, a wrong turn (or rather the wrong ride) had him (her?) backtracking East. Luckily it didn’t take the winking, blinking, dish-glove-wearing robot long to get straightened out and travelling in the right direction again. As of last night (August 31, 2014) those following him on Twitter, @hitchBOT, were updated in regards to his progress and whereabouts with this tweet
“A big thanks to Margot for dropping me off with my family in Toronto! Now it’s time for a #botnap pic.twitter.com/IJaqwJtaOt“
great news for everyone cheering him on.
Personally, I have a lot of traveling to do on the Northshore in the weeks agead and I can’t help being very hopeful and excited that I might be presented with the opportunity to pick up the hitchhiker.
To follow Hitchbot’s journey, visit his (her?) website at www.hitchbot.me there you’ll find plenty of information including links to all of the robot’s social pages/accounts.
Tell me in the comments – Do you think Hitchbot will make it across the country safe and sound? If so, do you think he’ll make it there before winter (include your best guess at when he’ll arrive in B.C.? Are you hoping to meet him (her) – would you give him a lift? Do you like this experiment – what do you think will be the most important thing learned?
