GREENSTONE OPP : DRIVERS CHARGED FOR SPEEDING

oppcolourGREENSTONE, ON – July 27, 2014 a member of the Greenstone Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) observed a red Nissan Rogue travelling at a high rate of speed on Highway 11 in the Municipality of Greenstone. The police officer used radar to confirm the suspicions of the high rate of speed. The speed of the moving motor vehicle was locked on the radar in excess of 50km/h over the posted speed limit of 90km/h. The driver Koudaio KAKOU of Lasalle, Quebec (QC) was charged under section 172(1) of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA) and issued a Provincial Summons for Drive Motor Vehicle Perform Stunt for Speeding by 50 km/hour or more. Further to that the driver was issued a 7 day licence suspension and the vehicle was impounded for 7 days. Koudaio KAKOU is scheduled to appear in court in Geraldton, Ontario on October 7, 2014.

The next day another member of the Greenstone OPP was conducting moving radar patrol. They observed a white Hyundai Sonata travelling at a high rate of speed on Highway 11 in the Municipality of Greenstone. The police officer used radar to confirm the suspicions of the high rate of speed. The speed of the moving motor vehicle was locked on the radar in excess of 50km/h over the posted speed limit of 90km/h. The driver Matthew PEDLEY-JONES of Vancouver, British Columbia (BC) was charged under section 172(1) of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA) and issued a Provincial Summons for Drive Motor Vehicle Perform Stunt for Speeding by 50 km/hour or more. Further to that the driver was issued a 7 day licence suspension and the vehicle was impounded for 7 days. Matthew PEDLEY-JONES is scheduled to appear in court in Geraldton, Ontario on October 7, 2014.

Police want to remind drivers that speeding is dangerous and could cause your licence to be suspended and vehicle to be impounded.
