Catholic Church Sale of Candles For Canadiens May Increase After 3-2 Win!

Yep, you read that right, that’s a candle for THE Canadiens as in the Montreal Canadiens hockey team! It’s never difficult to find religious debate on the internet but the topic of the day is a little out of the ordinary – Influencing Hockey With Prayers – or maybe it’s Influencing Prayers With Hockey, though I’ve visited the website and watched the CBC interview with a Montreal priest (below) I’m still unsure at which title is more accurate.
So what is this about exactly? Well, the Catholic Church of Montreal has a website where, for $1, you can buy a virtual candle burning in support of the Habs. There is even a Q & A page responding to obvious questions like “Will this guarantee a win for the Canadiens” since apparently not everyone feels the answer is obvious (I won’t say which answer I thought was obvious – I’ll leave that one for you).
The site promises to leave the candles burning as long as the Habs are in the running for the 2014 Stanley Cup! Hundreds of candles have already been lit and in light of last night’s 3-2 victory against the Rangers some may credit the candles which could see sales climb even more!
